Ladies in BJJ/Grapling

Not much ladies from South East Asia(local) train and compete in BJJ or submission grappling. One of the main reason is because most of them worry they will take advantage by men while they roll with men. Besides, the culture around this region also make ladies rather train in other self defence discipline such like Taekwondo, Karate, Wushu, Kickboxing or Muay Thai (less clinching?hugging on floor?)
Well, the situation here is getting better since we can see more ladies compete in FTB BJJ/Submission tournament in Bangkok this September. I do hope more and more ladies start to learn and love this sport. Here is some of the ladies BJJ competator i like much.

Out Of The Gym---Steamboat!

Its was a cold day recently in JB due to rainy days. And not much people attended the Sunday training session(5-7.30pm) so after training we decided to go for steamboat since Mr. Kimi from Anggola haven try any steamboat in Malaysia before. You can take whatever you want and as many as you can but you must make sure you finish all the food if not you will get penalty(RM5 for 100 gram!) so here is how the story go:

It started with Mr Kimi: Uhhhh~~~Steamboat! Yummy! (and we took a lots of food , especially prawns, we took around 60 prawns!!)

After 3 hours......we have to force our self eat all the food we had taken since we don want to get penalty. Mr Kimi: Steamboat! No.........!

Just look at how many we had ate. Only 4 of us went for the steamboat but we ate 6 people meal! It was a fun and unforgettable day for all of us.

Lesnar, St. Pierre winners at UFC 100

LAS VEGAS – Brock Lesnar retained the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title by stopping Frank Mir in the second round and Georges St. Pierre put on the performance of his career in blanking Thiago Alves at UFC 100 on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

Lesnar took Mir down and pounded him with rights along the cage, forcing referee Herb Dean to stop it at 1:48 of the second. After the win, Lesnar made an obscene gesture to the crowd with both hands.

St. Pierre, who was all class, won by scores of 50-45, 50-45, 50-44.

Lesnar, who lost to Mir last year at UFC 81 on a first-round submission, shouted to the crowd, “I love it! Keep booing! Keep booing!”

Mir only had one offensive move, a knee early in the second round. Lesnar took Mir down in the first and pounded him with rights, then did much the same in the second until it was stopped.

St. Pierre never allowed Alves into the fight. He took him down almost at will and was constantly working on the ground. The powerful Alves was able to force his way off the mat and get back to his feet, but he took a load of punishment from a champion who may have earned the outright pound-for-pound top status.

St. Pierre injured his groin in the third, but it hardly seemed to affect him in what he repeatedly called the toughest fight of his career.

Daniel Fight Preparation

Daniel Mashamaite from South Africa is currently busy training for his coming fight on ROYAL CUP OF KEDAH 2009 which will be held at KULIM 8 & 9 May. Beside training, Daniel like to stay in his hostel and enjoy his mp3 music and also his PS2 games(he can just spend 2 hours selecting and trying out ps2 games in the store!!)

Daniel in training
-Daniel is training resistant for punching power.-he do more than 100 leg curl to fortified his leg muscles
-Shadow boxing

Daniel in Coaching

-Although Daniel is a fighter and come to train in our gym, but sometimes he do help coaching since those members in gym like him much. They like to see how he train, listen how he talk and if they are lucky, sometimes they will be coach by Daniel if he is in good mod and finish his training early. He is really a patient teacher, if u keep doing wrong he will teach until you do it right. "Do it perfect don do it with power or speed before you master that move. Even a jab!" this is what Daniel always said.
-Daniel is teaching this 8 years old boy to execute leg kick while moving.

-The only big problem for Daniel to teach this boy is what Daniel said cannot be understand by the boy since he is a Japanese.

-"This is how your jab gotta be!" Daniel showing Bishop(nickname) how to perform a good jab.

-Daniel showing Yus how to perform a hook while evading. Seem like Yus is having a hard time to master this move but luckily finally he got it.

Super 8 Contender Asia Malaysian Qualifier Fights

tengku shahrizal vs kudin

ALIF vs HASHIM

alif vs tengku sharizal

Faizal vs Khoo

Faizal vs Wes

Faizal vs Alif

Notes:
-Tengku Sharizal which is from PDRM(Royal Force Of Police) is the champion of Super 4 qualifier in International KL Superfight 2008.

-Hashim is the 1st runner up of Super 4 qualifier in International KL Superfight 2008. He left Boxxwarrior team in early September 2008 due to family issue.

-Alif is the black horse of this super 8 qualifier. Many people don expect he can go that far and become 1st runner up since people watch his fight with Barbod in November Kelantan TM WMC super fight which organized by BOXXEVENT(lose knockout unconsciousness. But after that he join Boxxwarrior GYM and he was transform into a good fighter.

-Faizal A.K.A golden elbow is one of Malaysian Tigers ACE. He is good at making cut in his opponent head with his elbow. Many good Malaysian Fighters such as Khoo, Abbas and this time Wes become victim of his vicious elbow.

-Khoo A.K.A the red dragon is eldest fighter in this event. This dude have lion heart and never give up attitute. He is also 1st runner up in Ultimate Warrior 2007.(Champion won by Bernard Radin who is also currently Malaysian Tigers founder and captain)

Super 8 Contender Asia Malaysian Qualifier Champion

Faizal Ramli of the Malaysian Tigers, appeared victorious last night, booking himself a place on the Contender Asia Season 2.

In his first bout Faizal came up against Khoo Meng Yang of TNT Kickboxing. In this fight we had our fingers crossed, we were all a little nervous but it soon became clear that all Faizal's extra work in training had definitely paid off.

In the second fight, Faizal came up against Wes Jaya, the mystery fighter. Now no longer a mystery man, Wes proved himself as a skilled fighter, an especially good boxer with a mean left hook! Unfortunately for Wes, this wasn't enough to save him from Faizal's lethal elbow strikes, cutting Wes on the forehead and near his eye. Forcing Wes to a concede defeat by technical KO in round 2.

In the finals, it was Alif from Boxxwarriors Gym against Faizal Ramli of the Malaysian Tigers. Alif was definitely the biggest surprise of the night, he came in looking physically fitter than his previous profile shots. He fought his way to the finals well, impressing us all with his skills and he definitely proved himself a smart fighter. But this was not enough to spare him from Faizal's powerful low kicks, in the end, Faizal won the battle appearing victorious and booking himself a place in Contender Asia Season 2 which will be shot here in our beautiful country MALAYSIA.

Foreign Fighters Banned in Kelantan!

TANAH MERAH, April 19 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan state government has barred state teams from engaging the services of foreign Muay Thai exponents for competitions.

Committee chairman for Human Development, Youth, Sports and NGO's, Abdul Fatah Mahmood said the decision was among terms and conditions set by the state government to allow Muay Thai competitions to be organised in the state.

"The condition however does not apply for international competitions," he told Bernama here today.

He added that the main objective of state to allow Muay Thai competitions was to develop the sport and produce more talented local exponents in the sport.

"If teams engage foreign exponents to compete in local tournaments, it will defeat the purpose of organising such competitions and also result in local aspirants staying away from such competitions," he said.

Abdul Fatah said a seminar would be organised next month for those who are interested in the sport and is expected to be opened by Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

Short interview with Peyman 'The Warhammer' Shahrokni

The short interview took place in a restaurant where all fighters stayed. It was the next day after his fight with 'Q' EIKKASIT (Boxxwarriors current trainer). Peyman lose by points to Q.

Blogger : Hi, how your day today?you fought well last night!

Peyman : My body feel so damn tire now(fought for 5 rounds). Na.... it was a shitty fight last night. I was totally out of gas when fighting. To be honest, my body not fit to fight last night.

Blogger : Oh yeah, we all saw that both of you seem tire after 3 round. According to Q, he had stop fighting around 3 years! Also he not trained well for this fight because he need to train all Boxxwarriors fighters in this event.

Peyman : Yeah! It was kinda lucky for me, if not i will be in big trouble for sure. Q is a really experience good fighter. i tried all i got to catch him but i missed almost all my strikes. I landed Superman punch, kicks, punchers even i landed some elbows on his face but it seem his experience make him feel nothing even a bruise!(Q is right behind us while the interview, and its real Q face don even have a bruise)And i get a lots of foot jab from him! I was about to give up at round 2.

Blogger : So what make u still keep on fighting?

Peyman : I must thank to my cornerman, he told me go 1 more round, after 3 round he told me go for one more round, and so on.

Blogger : Why don you train more before this fight? Don you worry about knock out by him?

Peyman : I just been inform 2 weeks before this fight and i been spending too much time with my girlfriend. fortunately i trained pretty hard last few months.

At this moment, Big Z Mr Zahari joined in our table. He announced about the Z-1 Muay Thai Championship which Boxxevent will organize in future.

Zahari : Mr Peyman, If you want to fight in Z-1 you have to face good fighters, you have to face Q again!

Peyman: Its good, i want to fight him again.

Blogger : Don u worry to lose again?i think after this fight Q know how to beat you via KO!(joking)

Peyman: Next time i will train hard, and i promise you all next time i will put on a good show. I come to KILL!(LAUGH)

The interview ended here since i have to catch up with Mr.Boxxtomoi magazine crew.
